Ironman WA Triathlon (IMWA)

The inaugural IMWA went off with a huge bang!! 779 individuals from all around Australia and the world overcame the flat 3.8km swim / 180.2km cycle / 42.2km run course to finish inside the 17 hour cut-off. First across the line was Queensland’s Jason Shortis in an amazing 8hrs 16 mins, while first female was Rebekah Keat in 9hrs 3mins

Half Ironman Triathlon (HIM)
Busselton 7th May 2005
574 individuals and numerous teams finished the ever popular HIM run on part of the IMWA course with Pete Jacobs (NSW) winning in 4hrs 4min and Belinda Granger (Qld) the first female in at 4hrs 26min. Steve Bishop and Angela Milne were the first WA finishers.

 

 

 

X-Adventure Raid Series
WA South Coast 30th April-1st May 2005
Several teams comprising the elite of WA multisport athletes competed in a gruelling race on the rugged south coast near Denmark, a vastly different location from the 2004 RAID held during September at Kalbarri.

Westral Track Carnival
Speedome 12th March 2005
WA’s premier track racing Carnival culminated in the “Cycling Superkid” Duane Johansen taking out the 2005 Westral Wheelrace in great fashion from Adam O’Connor and previous 2 times winner Daniel Vogels.
The Women’s Westral went to rising star Josie Tomic and the Master’s Westral was won by “Lucky” Phil Nichols. Also crowned State Elimination champion was a very deserving Junior National Team Pursuit Champion, Adam O’Connor.
